When you work with SAP on a Windows 10 tablet device in your office LAN, lock Windows and unlock it after about 5-10 minutes, the SAP connection is lost and you have to re-login.
The error message says “SID: connection to partner ‘192.168.0.1’ broken – WSAECONNRESET: Connection reset by peer – Do you want to see the detailed error description?”
Even though tablets get the same power settings by GPO like the desktop and notebook clients, the SAP connection only breaks on tablets. This is caused by a Windows 10 feature called Modern Standby, which is available depending on the hardware / firmware.
To identify Modern Standby as the cause of this issue, you can generate a report by executing powercfg /sleepstudy in an elevated command prompt:
To disable Modern Standby, change the following value in the registry and reboot the client:
REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power" /v CsEnabled /T REG_DWORD /D "0x00000000" /F
